Leading Light Labradors is a family-owned, hobby breeder of AKC English style Labrador retrievers. We exist purely for the love of the breed and it is our intention to better the breed with each litter. Our labradors live in our home and are raised and trained personally by us with an enormous amount of love and attention. We do not raise dogs in outdoor kennels or runs. As such, we do not breed more than one litter at a time or more than one litter per female each year. We want our mothers to have a high quality of life and to remain energetic and healthy and to join us in all our family adventures. We can typically be found each weekend hiking, walking along our beach, or throwing balls in our backyard with our labs. The health and well-being of our dogs is paramount and all of our dogs are registered by the AKC and have passed their health clearances. We do OFA on hips and elbows, heart, CERF, PRA, NARC, EIC, and CNM.
We love the Labrador breed and we breed English style labradors, which tend to be calmer in temperament and stockier in build. We do not breed the American style labrador type. We find the English style labrador is more in line with our mission and vision of raising Labradors specifically for therapy, assistance, and people with disabilities; as well as for beloved family pets. Additionally, our labradors compete in obedience, rally, and conformation--they have all come from championship lines.
